FUE and Fut Hair Transplantation

Both hair transplantation methods differ especially on collecting techniques. Result of the operation performed by plastic surgeon specialized on hair transplantation will be positive regardless of using FUE or Fut methods.

Usage of donor site

In FUE hair transplantation, hair follicles are collected one by one from donor site through millimetric punch. As a result, hair transplant length might be 2-3 hours longer than FUT technique.

In FUT operation, follicles are collected from the area on back of the head and between ears as a thin line. These follicles, separated under microscope and prepared for transplantation, would be transplanted just as in FUE technique.

Scars after hair transplantation

There will be easily coverable scars after non-stitching required FUE hair transplantation process.

After FUT operation, there will be scar in shape of a 20-26 cm long thin straight line. Hair should be in certain length in order to cover scars occurred following FUT.

How is the physical recovery process after hair transplantation?

The person fully recovers physically in a few days after FUE. Even there are required precautions, healing process will convenient and easy.

Because of the sensitivity on stitch area physical movement will be limited on a certain level for 10 days after FUT.

Social life after the operation

It is usually necessary to have a short haircut for FUE. Therefore, the period for hair to grow back after FUE might be a situation needed to be socially hidden. It will not be an issue for people with short haircut.

Since there is no need for a haircut at FUT, it is possible to involve social life right after the operation by hiding stitching marks between hairs.

Since recipient area will recover in 10 days for both hair transplantation applications, wearing a hat would solve this appearance issue.

Maximum graft count in the operation

Since FUE method does not have donor site limitations, number of collectible grafts can be increased if necessary.

Donor site’s elasticity is essential for FUT method. Collectible graft count will differ by the elasticity of donor site.
